HOP: Helping Our Parks Volunteer Program

Mission Statement

The Georgetown – Scott County Parks and Recreation Department continually strives to develop, provide, and maintain quality programs and facilities that meet the increasing needs of our growing community.

You’re Invited!

Join our dedicated core of volunteers called “HOP,” Helping Our Parks, to help improve the quality of life in Georgetown/Scott County!  By sharing time and talent, volunteers have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet new people and make a difference in our community.

When you volunteer through HOP you can …

•  Share your time and talent with the community
•  Develop new interests and friendships
•  Continue learning and growing
•  Leave an impact on your community
•  Receive a Lily Pad Volunteer Award

Who can volunteer?

The GSC Parks and Recreation Department welcomes anyone who is willing to donate their time and skill toward making our community better.

  • Tadpoles: Youth ages 12 & younger are welcome to volunteer with an adult parent or guardian present. Some safety – related positions do have age restrictions.
  • Frogs: Individuals ages 13 & older. Choose an activity or program based on interests and availability.
  • Army: Businesses and Organizations. Build a company’s public image, develop teamwork, and improve staff morals by contributing staff and/or resources to a single service project or an ongoing activity.

Volunteer Benefits

GSC Parks values each of our volunteers and wants to recognize them for their efforts.

Proof of Volunteer Service: Individuals who need proof of service hours can receive a letter documenting their hours upon completion of their volunteer commitment. Individual records are available for service within the last year.

Annual Volunteer Event: All volunteers are invited to a volunteer appreciation event each year to honor their service.

Lily Pad Rewards: All volunteers will have their hours accounted for on The Lily Pad. As volunteers reach a certain amount of hours, they will be able to earn special rewards though the HOP Program.

Volunteer Interest Form

Interested volunteers should complete a Volunteer Interest Form and submit it to Katie Posey. GSC Parks staff will follow up with you as volunteer positions become available.
